Before she joined the programme, Katrina used a wheelchair and had little movement in her left side, but that’s all changed now she’s lost weight. She said: “I've thoroughly enjoyed the course at Live Well Suffolk. It has helped me get healthier and feel generally better about myself. Now that I have lost weight, I no longer have to use my wheelchair and I have so much more energy. Previously I was unable to use my left side at all, but by losing the weight and exercising more it is now getting much stronger.”
Although the course is now over, Katrina is continuing to make changes to her lifestyle with the support of Live Well Suffolk. She added: “I have now given up smoking, joined a gym and I am continuing to lose weight. I can’t thank the Live Well Suffolk team enough – a without their help and support I would not have been able to achieve what I have achieved. I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to lose weight.”
Katrina has also joined the Live Well Suffolk volunteer Health Champions project, to help inspire others to lead a healthier lifestyle.
She said: “The course taught me how to successfully lose weight in a healthy way. Although I knew the basics about healthy eating, the course reaffirmed what I knew and built on it. It gave me the motivation I needed and helped to spur me on every week, and I really enjoyed meeting new people and the support that came from the group.”
During the 12 week course Pat has completely changed her lifestyle and attitude towards food and exercise. She achieved her 5% weight loss target early on in the programme and continued to lose even more weight.
She added: “I now have more energy, feel fitter and have more stamina. I have gone down two dress sizes and can now fit into my old clothes. I also would like to become a health champion so that I can offer support and encouragement to others who want to lose weight.”
