Way-marked health walks
Three way-marked health walks have been created in the Suffolk Coastal district for people who wish to walk independently. These are marked at half mile intervals with plaques bearing the 'Stepping Out' symbol. Follow the links below for maps showing the routes and distances.

  • Aldeburgh health walk - walk along the seafront from the Fort Green car park to the Haven car park opposite the 'Scallop' sculpture on the beach, flat and surfaced all the way.

  • Felixstowe health walk - walk along the promenade and sea front from the Spa Pavilion to the Sea Road car park, flat and surfaced all the way.

  • Woodbridge health walk - walk along the riverside from the Tide Mill on a flat surfaced path with an alternative return route on roughish tracks.

Information on way-marked walks in other parts of Suffolk coming soon.

Health walks grading system
Health walks are graded 1 to 5 to give you an indication of which ones are easy or a bit more challenging - a key to the grading system is given below:

  • Grade 1 - on easy flat good surfaces
  • Grade 2 - mostly on the level but can be muddy in places
  • Grade 3 - some moderate slopes but good surfaces
  • Grade 4 - more challenging - may include steeper slopes, rough ground and mud in wet weather
  • Grade 5 - as for grade 4 but may include stiles

Please complete a health questionnaire before you walk with us

The scheme requires us to ensure every person who comes on a health walk has completed a health questionnaire. This is for insurance purposes and to help each local scheme evaluate their health walks and show funders that they offer value for money.

To save time, if you have not completed this questionnaire or are walking with us for the first time, please could you print a copy off, complete and sign it, and give it to a walk leader on your next walk.
